Book a flight online and it feels automatic. It isn’t. Somewhere in the chain, a trained person or a system they manage decides the fare, holds the seat and issues the ticket. Air ticketing teaches exactly that, and it takes months, not years. At TMI Academy, we train for the job as it’s done in travel offices, not as a syllabus on paper describes it.
What Is an Air Ticketing Course?
Picture a customer who walks in wanting Mumbai to Singapore, return, cheapest option, no overnight layover. You search, compare, price, build the booking, issue the ticket. Then they call back to change the date. You handle that too.
The core module is GDS Fares and Air Ticketing. You’ll use Amadeus, Galileo and Sabre, which agencies and airlines run on every single day.
What you’ll learn:
- Flight search and PNR creation
- Fare rules, taxes, and how a fare actually adds up
- Cancellations, date changes, refunds
- IATA geography and codes (yes, you’ll memorise a lot of them)
- Domestic and multi-city international itineraries
Eligibility Criteria
The bar is low. If you’ve cleared 12th, you can start. Graduates join too, and so do people who’ve worked a few years elsewhere and want out.
- 10+2 from a recognised board
- Graduates and working professionals welcome
- Decent English; Hindi is useful
- Basic computer knowledge
- No aviation experience required
Course Fees and Duration
Fees swing quite a bit from one institute to another. Short ticketing courses in India mostly land between ₹25,000 and ₹80,000 and run three to six months. Add ground operations or tourism subjects and you’re looking at a longer, costlier diploma. Since fees and batch dates change, ask our counsellors for the latest numbers and instalment options.
Related Industry Programmers at TMI Academy
Ticketing alone gets you in. A second skill gets you noticed.
- Airport Ground Handling Management: Check-in, baggage, ramp work, passenger assistance, safety rules. Pick this if you’d rather be at the airport than at a desk.
- Travel and Tourism Consultant Diploma: Tour packages, visa guidance, destinations, selling travel to real customers. Works for agency jobs, or if you want your own consultancy someday.
Career Scope After Completion
Roles people commonly apply for:
- Airline ticketing executive
- Reservation or booking agent
- Travel consultant
- Airport customer service or ground staff
- Corporate travel desk coordinator
- Tour operations executive
- Visa and documentation assistant
Airlines, airport service companies, online travel agencies and tour operators hire for these. Starting pay is modest, no point pretending otherwise. It improves with experience, GDS skills and a second language. A few people eventually start their own agency, usually after learning the business from the inside.
Why Choose TMI Academy?
- Syllabus shaped by what employers ask for
- Live GDS practice instead of slide-only classes
- Trainers with airline and travel company experience
- Mock interviews and placement support
- Communication and grooming sessions, because handling customers matters as much as handling fares
Final Thoughts
Don’t expect a management title in twelve months. Do expect to be employable in a growing industry, fast, without a heavy fee. GDS ticketing, ground handling or the tourism consultant diploma, any of them works, as long as you’re practising on real systems from the first week.
